Welcome to Slightly Hoffbeat

Welcome to my blog.

In Slightly Hoffbeat, I’ll write about a variety ot topics that interest me. Since I’m pretty much a regular kind of guy, I’m sure many of you will find some of these topics interesting to you, too.

However, since I tend to look at the world in a slightly less than regular way at times, some of you could find yourselves discombobulated, enlightened, angry, sad, joyous or a combination of all of the above, and more, after reading some of my posts.

I am interested in physicality, spirituality and emotionality. I am interested in being a better dad. I am interested in grilling the perfect steak on my Weber grill. I am interested in getting to know God better. I am interested in seeing the Green Bay Packers win another Super Bowl or two before my name comes up on the season ticket waiting list. I am interested in helping the people in this world understand why they have such a problem getting along with each other and how to begin remedying that situation. I am also interested in figuring out a way to provide food, shelter and basic health care to those who would otherwise die because they can not get these very basic needs met.

I am interested in writing a novel or two. I am interested in writing the kind of poetry and lyrics that will elicit laughter, empathy, joy and sorrow. I am interested in acquiring (and giving away) more love,  compassion and laughter. I am interested in lessening fear, jealously, anger, resentment, and all their offshoots.

I realize that setting these lofty goals sets me up to fail to live up to some of them. But it is better to set high goals and try as hard as possible to achieve them than to set low goals. For even if high goals are not met, you usually get further than if you set low goals. And the satisfaction in knowing you gave as much effort as possible can be a bigger reward than actually reaching the desired destination.
